New Delhi: Amid the ongoing lockdown in the country due to the Corona epidemic, the Home Ministry has allowed shops to sell liquor. Meanwhile, hotels and restaurants across the country have sought permission from the government for online alcohol delivery. Restaurants and hotels have asked the state governments to allow them to sell liquor stocks.
In fact, due to the lockdown, restaurants and hotels have liquor stock of about Rs 3,000 crore. President of the National Restaurant Association of India i.e. NRAI, Anurag Katiyar said that we are facing a huge economic crisis at this time. On one side we have a stock of expensive liquor, on the other hand, a cash crisis has also arisen in front of us. Katiyar said that he urges all the state governments that they should be allowed to sell the accumulated stock of liquor.
He told that through the home delivery model he can sell liquor in stock. This will help them to withdraw their stock and will also be able to raise some amount. So that the needs of the people can be met. He said that through this model, we will also be able to follow the social distance guidelines. Katiyar said that we know that some laws will need to be amended for this. But I believe that this step will be taken in view of the current extraordinary circumstances.
