Islamabad: Retired Brigadier Amir Hamza of the Pakistani Army was shot dead in a targeted attack at the Lilla Interchange in the Jhelum area of Pakistan's Punjab province. According to reports, unidentified gunmen carried out the attack.

Brigadier Hamza was traveling with his wife and daughter when the incident occurred. The assailants fired at his car without attempting to stop or rob it, indicating that their sole intention was to kill him. Authorities believe this was a targeted killing.

Investigation Details

Officials have initiated an investigation into the case. However, the FIR registered by the police does not include sections related to terrorism. The police are treating the incident as a blind murder case, with no clear leads on the attackers' identities or motives.

Background and Allegations

Retired Brigadier Amir Hamza was the former Director General of the Emergency Services Academy 1122. He was allegedly one of the main conspirators behind the 2018 terrorist attack on the Sunjwan Army Camp in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack was suspected to have been carried out by Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists.

According to reports, Brigadier Ameer Hamza (Retd), the former DG of Emergency Services Academy 1122, was allegedly one of the main conspirators behind the 2018 attack on the Sunjwan Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack was carried out by suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists. In the attack on February 10, 2018, five Indian Army personnel, including two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and the father of a soldier were killed. Additionally, ten people, including six women and children, were injured.
