Islamabad: Following an incident where a mob destroyed ballot papers, re-voting is happening in 53 polling stations across Khushab, Kohat, and Ghotki, reports ARY News.

The re-voting will continue until 5 pm, with long queues seen outside 26 polling stations of NA-88 in Khushab, 25 polling stations of PK-90 in Kohat, and two of PS-8 in Ghotki.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced that final results for these areas will be declared after counting all votes.

Last week, due to allegations of rigging, particularly by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the ECP ordered re-voting in specific polling stations in one National Assembly (NA) and two provincial assembly constituencies.

Results for NA-88 in Khushab, PK-90 in Kohat, and PS-18 in Ghotki were withheld by the ECP after reports of polling material being tampered with or taken from officials.

This decision to hold new voting aims to ensure fairness and integrity in the electoral process.

The ECP reiterated its commitment to democracy and ensuring every eligible voter can cast their ballot without interference.

Re-voting addresses concerns raised about previous polling, upholding democratic rights in Khushab, Kohat, and Ghotki.

The ECP encouraged active participation in the re-voting process, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability.
