RGV will have to ask for NOC from the Thackeray family

Ram Gopal Verma's Sarkar 3 is said to be based on the life of Bal Thackeray and his family. CBFC has just asked to RGV that he will have to add a disclaimer to the trailer.

If the news that film revolves around the lives of Thackeray are true then Verma will have to get an NOC from the family, to which CBFC chief says, "Filmmakers will not be allowed to sit on the fence. Either your work is based on true characters. Or it is a work of fiction. If you claim your film is based on facts then get us an NOC from the people concerned."

Nihalani continued, "Earlier, trailers were shown only in movie theatres. Now they are released on social network platforms much before they hit theatres. After the trailer of Jolly LLB 2 was released there were lawsuits, as the trailer suggested that the film had real-life references. We’ve now decided to be careful with trailers as well."

He has put his views strongly, "Is Sarkaar 3 based on the life of Bal Thackeray? If it is, then please get an NOC from his family. If not, then state it is a work of fiction. We are doing this for the benefit of filmmakers who get into messy lawsuits just days before their film releases."
