Ricky Martin faces up to 50 Years in Prison over Incest and DV Allegations

Ricky Martin is reported to have been accused of domestic violence which might result in him being sent to prison for over 50 years behind bars. A restraining order against him is already bad enough for the popular singer, songwriter, and actor, for allegedly stalking the victim and torturing them mentally and physically.

The accuser is one of Martin’s family members, identified as his 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, who said that he was in a relationship with Martin, which came to an end seven-month later, however, the breakup was not taken well by the 5–year-old Puerto Rican singer, resulting in  Martin reaching out to the victim and even loitering around his house.

Initially, the complaint was made anonymously under Law 54, known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act, accusing him of domestic violence and seeking a restraining order. The matter is listed in court on July 21.

On July 16th however, Ricky Martin went on record to deny any or all allegations of having a romantic relationship with his nephew. While Sanchez stands firm on his allegations and even says that there was physical and psychological abuse that occurred during the relationship, Ricky Martin is denying all claims made.

The singer’s representative labelled the allegations “completely false and fabricated”. His criminal defence lawyers claimed that Mr Sanchez is “struggling with deep mental health challenges”. “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been – and would never be – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” his lawyer said. “The idea is not only untrue, but it is also disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”

Daniel Sanchez filed a restraining order against the singer on July 1 claiming he had been a victim of domestic violence. The order prohibited Martin from contacting Sanchez. The grounds of the application claimed that Sanchez “fears for his safety.”
