New Delhi: The Australian team is on target after losing the third Test of the Ashes series. The Match-time match saw the Aussies win easily. England lost 9 wickets in the Leeds Test and needed 73 runs to win but it did not happen. England's all-rounder Ben Stokes and 11th-ranked batsman Jack Leech shared 76 runs for the last wicket to give the hosts a one-wicket victory. After the defeat, former captain Ponting has questioned his team's combination.

Former captain Ponting believes that if fast bowler Mitchell Starc played in the Leeds Test, the result could have been something else. Stark could have stopped all-rounder Ben Stokes in the last Test, according to Ponting. Stokes' unbeaten 135 runs helped England win the third Ashes Test.

"I will assume that as the match was going out of our hands, I was reminded of Stark's brilliant yorker who uprooted Stokes' wicket at the Oval Ground in the World Cup," Ponting said. "I don't think a player like Jack Leech would have faced Mitchell Stark's reverse swinging ball from 150 km per hour. "Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and James Pattinson tried hard in the Leeds Test but they didn't get the last wicket.
