Rishi Panchami 2024: Significance
Rishi Panchami is a significant day for fasting, especially observed by women to express their devotion and gratitude towards their husbands. The fast is believed to cleanse any unintentional sins and restore spiritual purity. Traditionally, women refrain from participating in religious activities or domestic work during menstruation to maintain purity. If this practice is inadvertently breached, it leads to Rajaswala Dosha, or spiritual impurity.

To rectify this, women observe a fast on Rishi Panchami, seeking forgiveness and spiritual cleansing. This festival provides an opportunity for women to atone for any mistakes and reestablish their spiritual balance. By observing this fast, they aim to eliminate the dosha and strengthen their faith and marital bond. Rishi Panchami is a time for women to renew their devotion, seek spiritual growth, and fortify their relationship with their husbands.

Rishi Panchami 2024: Rituals
The day begins with a purifying bath and the wearing of new clothes. Women then offer prayers to the Sapta Rishis, asking for their blessings and forgiveness for any unintentional errors. A special puja is performed, which includes offering fruits, flowers, and sacred threads. The idols of the seven sages are worshipped, and women seek their guidance and wisdom.

The ritual of Arghya is performed by offering water to the sages as a mark of respect. Women recite the names of the Sapta Rishis and chant mantras to invoke their blessings. The fast is broken after sunset with a special meal that often includes traditional dishes. By performing these rituals, women seek spiritual cleansing, forgiveness, and the blessings of the revered sages.
