Flood Updates: River Ganga caused floods in many areas of Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: Many states of the country are facing the rain and floods. While landslides are happening in the hilly areas, the rivers are in spate due to heavy rains in the plains. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for Friday and Saturday in view of the possibility of heavy rains in many states.

According to the Meteorological Department's forecast, light to moderate rains may occur in some areas of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Jammu Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam. Whereas in the next few hours, there may be thunderstorms in Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Kairana, Jind, Saharanpur, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and nearby areas.

The flood in the Ganges river in Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh has caused a lot of destruction. More than three dozen villages in the district have been affected. The floodwaters have entered the banks of the Ganges. Due to which crops have been ruined. In this area, the river Ganga is flowing beyond the danger mark. Due to rising water level in the Ganges in Varanasi, many ghats have sunk. Water has entered the temples along the Ganges. The mutual contact of 84 Ghats has been lost. Half a dozen colonies have been completely submerged due to lack of cleanliness of the sewage and drainage system of the coastal areas.
