Patna: After a long-running controversy, RLSP National President Upendra Kushwaha on Tuesday made an official announcement to separate from the Grand Alliance. At the same time, he has also announced the formation of a third front, halting discussions to join nda. Now Upendra Kushwaha will contest with former UP Chief Minister Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

It may be noted that RLSP supremo Upendra Kushwaha had been upset for quite some time due to the lack of clear seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. At times, he tried to suggest the issue with the leader of the opposition, Ratan Yadav, but because of the recalcitrant attitude of the stunning, he could not talk about seat sharing. After which Upendra Kushwaha decided to leave the Grand Alliance. Former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi also joined NDA by edging the Grand Alliance.

Upendra Kushwaha, a former union minister, was sacked from Nitish Kumar's JDU in 2007 after he formed his party Rashtriya Samatha Party in Farbury, 2009. But in November of 2009, his party merged with JDU. However, on January 4, 2013, he resigned from the party accusing the Nitish government of not developing it. After which he formed the National Lok Samatha party.
