New Delhi, In a tragic incident, a speeding truck hits the scooter at a crowded road in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area in which an elderly couple was killed.

The deceased were identified as Chandra Jain 67 and his wife Anita 60 - were returning from a temple when the truck hit them from behind near a bus stand.

The two were flung several metres after the truck hit the scooter and their heads crashed on a pavement, said police.

Onlookers stopped the bus and called the police.

According to the police, the driver was arrested and the couple was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
