Trinidad: Rohit Sharma and company checked all the appropriate boxes during their Caribbean away tour as they opened Team India's ICC World Test Championship (WTC) campaign with a series victory against the West Indies.
In the second Test of the decisive series, which was played on Monday, the Virat Kohli-led team and the hosts played to a frustrating draw. Rohit's team won the series 1-0 to maintain their lead in the WTC rankings after the second and third Test ended in a draw.
Run-machine Kohli smashed his 29th Test century to give the visitors an advantage over the Men from the Caribbean in a contest where skipper Rohit led India's ultra-aggressive manner of playing the longest format with his fastest half-century.

At Queen's Park Oval, Virat Kohli's brilliant performance propelled Team India to an enormous score of 438 for the first innings. In the recently finished match between India and the West Indies, the 34-year-old surpassed his 76th international century with a cover drive against Shannon Gabriel.
In his reflections on India's series victory over the West Indies, captain Rohit singled out Kohli, who steered the visitors' batting onslaught. When Rohit mentioned Kohli, he was referring to Ishan Kishan's pivotal cameo in the second innings. "In Test matches, you need guys who stabilise the innings like what Virat did, he played superbly. You need the mixture of everything. We have depth, we have got variety. We are in the right place. It's about getting the job done. I always believe in getting better as a team. I said after the WTC final as well. We've played consistent cricket. That's what we are looking at. We want to focus on all three aspects of the game," Rohit said during the post-match ceremony.
