Big cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane will have to wait longer to start personal training in the city, as the area is in the Covid-19 'Red Zone' where sports facilities are currently not allowed to open. The Maharashtra government has allowed the stadium to be opened without spectators for personal training in the 'Green Orange Zone'. The Ministry of Home Affairs had relaxed the rules for the fourth phase of the lockdown running till 31 May, after which the state government took this decision.

Apart from Mumbai, its surrounding areas like Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mira Bhayandar, Vasai Virar Kalyan Dombivli have been declared as 'Red Zone'. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official told PTI, "We will strictly follow the rules of the state government relating to the opening of stadiums and sports facilities." MCA has three facilities Wankhede Stadium, Bandra Kurla Complex Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, but all these will remain closed as per government guidelines.

A senior official of the Cricket Club of India (CCI) said that they are awaiting government orders to resume the activities. The official said, till then no activity will start.
