Trinidad: India's captain Rohit Sharma once again shown outstanding leadership on Thursday after scoring his tenth Test century in Dominica. The Indian captain and his rookie partner Yashasvi Jaiswal put up a 139-run partnership after being asked to bat first, becoming the second successive century stand for the first wicket against the Windies in this series.

Before being dismissed by Jomel Warrican, Rohit scored 80 runs, but his performance moved him up the Test cricket batting order above former captain MS Dhoni.

On Thursday, Rohit passed Dhoni to go up to sixth place among India's all-time run scorers in international cricket. In 443 games for India, the former scored 17,298 runs while also smashing 44 centuries and 92 half-centuries across formats. On the other side, the illustrious wicketkeeper-batter retired in 2020 after scoring 17,092 runs in 523 games for India.

Sachin Tendulkar, India's legendary batsman, tops the list with an incredible 34357 runs in 664 games. In international cricket, he really holds the record for most runs scored across all formats.

Rahul Dravid, the current head coach, amassed 24,064 runs in 504 games while Virat Kohli amassed 25,548 in 500 games.

Following Rohit's departure on Thursday, Kohli assumed the spotlight and scored his 30th fifty in a Test. When his innings is resumed on Friday, he will aim for his 29th hundred after sharing a stunning century stand with Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth wicket. He returned unbeaten on 87.

The former Indian skipper, who scored 25,534 runs in 519 matches, overtook former South African batsman Jacques Kallis to rank seventh all-time in runs scored in international cricket.

At the moment, Virat has 25,548 runs, averaging 53.67. In 559 innings, he has scored 75 centuries and 132 half-centuries, with a top score of 254 (in Tests).

After Kohli (87 batting off 161) and Ravindra Jadeja (36 batting off 84) produced some beautiful shots in the last session and ensured India gathered 106 runs in 33.2 overs without losing a wicket, India posted 288 for four at stumps on day one.
