ISTANBUL: The parties discussed an agreement on international security guarantees for Ukraine, a ceasefire, and the resolution of humanitarian difficulties in Ukraine during negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul.

At an interim briefing in Turkey, Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the Head of the President's Office of Ukraine, said: "Intensive conversations are taking place on a number of significant subjects. The deal on international security assurances for Ukraine is the most important. Only with this agreement will we be able to put an end to the fighting in the way that Ukraine requires. A truce is also crucial so that we can handle the humanitarian issues that have piled ", according to Ukrayinska Pravda.

"Today we have another problem, and it's getting more and bigger," Podoliak continued, "the problem of escalating conflict, mounting hostility, and escalating violations of norms of warfare not only on the battlefield."

Ukraine's Armed Forces will ensure that the rights of Russian prisoners of war are respected, and Russia should do the same.

Podoliak emphasised the importance of both parties abiding by the conventions and refraining from breaching them. Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's Foreign Minister, announced that the Ukrainian delegation for the talks with Russia in Turkey will not mention the referendum.
