The five-nation grouping of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Asia) in 2020 chaired by Russia is happening right now. The BRICS are strengthening cooperation to combat terrorism, illegal drugs and corruption, President Putin said during the 12th BRICS summit hosted by Russia via video conference, reported a news agency. The year 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, and all BRICS countries unanimously condemned the glorification of the Nazis and their henchmen as well as the attempts to revise the results of the war and revive the ideology of aggression and intolerance, Putin said.
Putin said the BRICS countries consistently is working and monitoring the development of constructive relations with other states and organisations on the basis of respect for the United Nations Charter and norms of international law providing sovereign equality, non-interference in internal affairs and peaceful settlement of disputes. Meeting is happening virtually through a video conference. This year revolving over the deadly virus, Russian president told BRICS leaders Tuesday that coronavirus vaccines developed in Russia “work effectively and safely” and he urged the group of emerging economy nations to “join forces” for the mass production of the shots.
He said, “coordinating collective BRICS measures” to tackle the pandemic is the alliance’s priority. He was happy to cooperate with the partners in manufacturing and use of the Russian-made vaccine. The leaders vowed to “work to ensure” that when a vaccine becomes available, “it is disseminated in a fair, equitable and affordable basis.”
