Moscow: The level of political communication between Russia and the United States has reached an all-time low and is now limited to the discussion of technical issues, the Russian envoy to the US Anatoly Antonov said on Tuesday.

"The level of political dialogue between Russia and the United States is  at an unprecedented low level. Even on topics of evident mutual interest, trust is being undermined, cooperation is deteriorating and, communication between the parties is limited today," Antonov stated on Channel One's Bolshaya Igra ("Big Game") show, adding that the interaction is "limited to technical issues." The envoy also stated that the two sides do not currently engage in strategic discussion, describing the situation as "wrong" because the "world expects real steps" from the US and Russia.

Antonov also stated that he is "unaware" of any unofficial Moscow-Washington talks. "We don't see any signs of it right now," US State Secretary John Kerry said, reiterating his country's position that the crisis could be resolved quickly if Russia ended its military operation in Ukraine.

Blinken emphasised that the US will continue to support Ukraine throughout the crisis, ensuring that the country has all it needs to defend itself against Russia.
