The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces claims that Russia's evacuation vow is a hoax, BBC reported. The general staff said in a daily operational update posted to Facebook that Russian units were continuing to move away from Kyiv and Chernihiv. Russia has previously stated that it will concentrate its efforts in the eastern Donbass region.

As per reprots, Ukraine's military believes the withdrawals are "likely a rotation of specific units" intended to mislead the country's military leadership and create a "misconception" about the purpose of their deployment.  Despite Russian troop advances away from Kyiv, the threat to the Ukrainian capital remains, according to Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby.

In addition, the enemy continued to "fire and storm" near Donetsk, in the east, according to the statement.  "Ukrainians aren't naive," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in response to Russia's vow to reduce military operations in the region of Kyiv and Chernihiv.

The pledge came after Russia and Ukraine began peace talks in Istanbul on Tuesday.  However, a sceptic Zelensky stated that while early indicators from the negotiations were "promising," they did not "drown out" Russian shell bursts. Other nations reacted with caution as well. "I don't read anything into it until I see what their actions are," US Vice President Joe Biden remarked. There is a gap between what Russia says and what it does, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
