Kerala- Pathanamthitta: The Sabarimala Temple in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district opened its doors to pilgrims for Chithira Attavishesha Puja on Wednesday, despite the current COVID-19 epidemic.

After the puja, the temple will close at 9 p.m., and worshippers will be let in via a virtual queue ticketing system, according to the Travancore Devaswom Board.
The board further stated that devotees must have a vaccination certificate indicating that they have been completely vaccinated or a negative RT-PCR data that is less than 72 hours old.The board was also notified that the temple will open for a two-month pilgrimage season on November 15. Kerala, however, recorded 6,444 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with 45 deaths.

The Sabarimala Temple is a Hindu temple complex in Kerala,  located on Sabarimala Hill within the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Perinad Village, Pathanamthitta district. It is one of the world's most popular yearly pilgrimage locations, with an estimated 40 to 50 million worshippers attending each year.
