Kochi: Former Miss Kerala and the runner-up in the same competition have died tragically in a road accident near Vaitila. Police said on Monday that the car of Ansi Kabeer (24) from Thiruvananthapuram and Anjana Shajan (25), a resident of Thrissur, suddenly turned around in an attempt to save them from being hit by a bike and met with an accident.

The incident took place around 1 pm on Sunday. Two others in the car were injured. Police informed the media about the accident and said, "Another person in the car along with them has been admitted to a nearby hospital and his condition is critical. He is a resident of The Rosary of Thrissur.'''

Police suspect that only the driver had put on a 'seatbelt'. Let us tell you that Ansi Kabeer and Anjana Shajan participated in the Miss Kerala competition in 2019. Ansi was the winner of the competition while Anjana finished second. Police have currently seized the bodies of the duo and rushed them to the hospital for postmortem and started an investigation.
