West Bengal:  From Monday,  November 1, Eastern Railway will resume suburban Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) and other local train services in West Bengal with a 50 percent seating capacity for the general public. After nearly six months, train services will resume on a regular schedule while still adhering to Covid-19 restrictions.

"South Eastern Railway has decided to restore its Suburban/EMU locals in a phased manner plying in Howrah-Kharagpur-Midnapur, Shalimar-Santragachi, Panskura-Haldia, Santragachi-Amta, and Tamluk-Digha Sections over Kharagpur Division with effect from 31st October 2021, in accordance with the advisory issued by the Government of West Bengal.

The train services, both Eastern and South Eastern Railways, began operating with a covid-19 restriction, which was largely ignored by commuters. The railway authorities have sanitised their facilities in preparation for the millions of commuters who outnumbered the capacity and exceeded physical distances in every train connecting Howrah and Sealdah.

Services of total 48 EMU Locals (23 in Up Direction and 25 in Down Direction) will be restored from 31st October, 2021,  according to a SER. Apart from that, Howrah-Jaleswar-Howrah MEMU (08061/08062). All COVID-19 Health Protocols must be strictly followed by passengers, including maintaining physical distance, wearing a face mask, and so on.
