Former India captain and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly feels that if today's rules were in his era, he would have scored more runs with Sachin Tendulkar. Ganguly says that due to two new balls and the new rule of field restrictions, his and Sachin's pair could have scored another 4,000 runs. The official Twitter handle of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday shared the record of sharing the two sporting legends.

Legendary: Sachin and Ganguly together scored 8,227 runs in 176 innings in ODIs at an average of 47.55. This is a record, no one pair has scored more than 6,000 runs in ODIs together. Replying to the ICC post, Tendulkar asked Ganguly, "How many runs do you think we could have scored with these new rules." When there are 4 fielders and 2 new balls outside the circle. Ganguly replied to this, "4000 runs and hote. Two new balls... wow ... looks like a cover drive for the boundary in the first over of the game."

Talking of field restriction, the 50-over game is divided into three powerplays. In the first ten overs of the game, only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle, while four fielders are allowed outside the circle in the next 30 overs. In the final ten overs of the game, five fielders are kept outside the circle.
