Agra: A case under Triple Talaq was registered against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former minister Chaudhary Bashir at Thana Mantola in Tajnagari Agra a few days ago. Now, in the same case, the latest information has been received that the former Minister has been arrested and sent to jail on Thursday (August 19, 2021). The court had earlier rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the former minister. He had then allegedly come to the police station himself and surrendered.

SSP Muniraj said, former minister Chaudhary Bashir, accused in the triple talaq case, was produced before the court after being arrested by thana Mantola police from where he has been sent to jail. The chargesheet will be put up after investigation. According to media reports, Chaudhary Bashir has been lodged in barrack number 14 in the district jail. There are more than 50 prisoners. Former minister Chaudhary Bashir, who was charged in the barracks, will have to sleep on the floor with the prisoners. A case of cheating was registered against him by a woman from the family of a former MLA in Delhi. Mantola police are now taking assets of the case as well. In this also, their warrant can be made. A few days ago, Nagma, the third wife of the Samajwadi Party leader, filed a harassment case against him.

The victim said that on July 23, Bashir was going to get marry the sixth time, from a woman named Shaista, when she stopped him from doing so, Bashir divorced her in front of everyone and drove her away. Both have two sons. Nagma had lodged a complaint and appealed to the police for her safety. She said that it was only after marriage that her husband and her sister-in-law started physically and mentally harassing her. That is why, fed up now, she wants action. Police had registered a case on Nagma's complaint. The matter is under investigation.
