Agra: Samajwadi Party leaders and workers sat on a dharna in Mathura on Thursday, December 19, 2019. The SP leaders who were opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act were taken into custody by the police. On Thursday, near the SSP residence in Mathura, SP leaders and workers were sitting on a dharna as per the pre-determined schedule. On the instructions of the state president, the citizenship amendment law is being opposed by the SP leaders.

According to information received from the sources, it has been learned that during the demonstration of Samajwadi Party leaders, a large number of police personnel reached the spot. Here SP leaders raised slogans against Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi. At the same time, the SP District President burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

SP leaders who were protesting, asked the police to return, but they did not agree. After this, the Mathura Police detained around a hundred leaders and activists. During the sit-in demonstration, the police have detained several dozen supporters including District President Lokmanikant Jadoun, Vice President Ranvir Singh Dhangar, Provincial Leaders Pradeep Chaudhary, Pawan Chaudhary, Bharat Chaudhary.
