NEW  DELHI: BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra accused  Rahul Gandhi of a present-day Mir Jafar of Indian politics for allegedly seeking foreign intervention in India.

On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party elevated its stance Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over comments he made during a recent trip to the UK and renewed its demand for an apology in front of Parliament. The Wayanad MP has been compared to a modern-day Mir Jafar of Indian politics by BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra.

Rahul Gandhi must apologise in front of Parliament. He always disparages the country. He is the contemporary India Polity's Mir Jafar. He called for a foreign power to step in and insulted the nation. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have been engaged in this "plot" continuously. He says that no one lets him speak, and his involvement in Parliament is the least, Patra remarked at a press conference before the opening of Tuesday's Parliament session.

"There is no distinction between this and what Mir Jafar did. You all must be aware of what Mir Jafar did to take the Nawab's position. He had always wanted to be in charge, so he enlisted the East India Company's assistance. British officials then took over as the nation's rulers "Patra continued.

Further calling Rahul Gandhi as Mir Jafar, Patra slammed, "Mir Zafar did the same thing, he gave 24 Parganas to get assistance from East India Company and now Rahul is doing the same kind of politics."
