Mumbai: Social media user Samit Thakkar, who was arrested for allegedly making critical comments against Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray, has once again been sent to police custody till 13 November. It is alleged that Samit Thakkar called Aditya Thackeray a 'baby penguin', due to which he is on the radar of the Thackeray government.
It is noteworthy that due to Diwali, the court is closed from November 13 to 15. This means that Samit will have to spend this year's Diwali in jail. The hearing on his bail plea is possible only after the end of the holiday on 16 November. This decision has come after the dismissal of Thakkar's bail plea on Monday this week. A local court in Girgaon again arrested him and sent him to judicial custody. Thakkar was arrested by the Mumbai Police after he got bail from the court on 2 November.
Thakkar was arrested by the Nagpur police on October 24 after several FIRs were registered in Nagpur and Mumbai over his comments on Twitter. In these comments, Samit Thakkar also allegedly called Maharashtra Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray a 'baby penguin'.
