Former Indian team batting coach Sanjay Bangar has decided not to accept Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) proposal to become an advisor to the Test team due to personal and professional commitments. The BCB proposed to Bangar batsmen in Test cricket in front of Bangar eight weeks ago but he cannot accept it, as he has signed a two-year contract with Star Sports.

Bangar said, "He had proposed to me 8 weeks ago but I have finalized my contract with Star, which will allow me to strike a balance between my personal and professional commitments. However, I am ready to work with BCB in future." Former South African cricketer Neil McKenzie is currently Bangladesh's batting consultant in limited overs cricket. Bangar remained associated with the Indian team from 2014 to 2019. After the domestic season started in September, he was replaced by Vikram Rathore.

According to media reports, the tour of the West Indies was his last series with the Indian team after the World Cup. Since then Bangar has been busy with commentary. He had 12 Tests and 15 One-Day games for India from 2001 to 2004. Bisbee Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chaudhary told reporters in Dhaka earlier on Wednesday, 'We have talked to Bangar (for Test batting consultant) but nothing has been decided yet."
