When Oscar-winning movie producer Satyajit Ray decided to make his first Hindi movie - he wanted to cast two people - Sir Richard Attenborough and Sanjeev Kumar. Satyajit Ray's 1977 movie 'The Chess Players' is being made on 19th century Lucknow. The story of this movie revolved around two lazy nobles who are very fond of chess as if the British are trying to annex their territory. 

The performances of Sanjeev Kumar and Saeed Jaffrey and directed by Satyajit Ray were so powerful that the movie became India's official entry at the 51st Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Movie. The movie was reviewed globally. This is one of those 'Forty Films' that Martin Scorsese wants everyone to see. In 1989, Faber London published a book titled 'The Chess Players and Other Screenplaces'. 

Media reports say that Sanjeev Kumar and co-actor Saeed Jaffrey are on the cover of this book. Not only this, Sanjeev Kumar is such an actor who shines in all genres of comedy, tragedy, romance and drama. His films are included in the favourite movies of ardent cinema lovers around the world, which he always likes to watch. The best thing is that PM Modi himself has also given support for the biography of Sanjeev Kumar.
