New Delhi: Delhi Police, which handles the security of the national capital, has got its new headquarters. On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new headquarters on Jai Singh Road on the occasion of Unity Day. There is a big picture outside this 17-floor headquarters equipped with the best facilities, which has attracted everyone's attention. In this, the first Home Minister of the country Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is seen honoring a policeman, the question in the mind of the people is, who is this policeman?

According to the news published in English newspaper The Hindu, Sardar Patel is honoring a police officer in a picture printed on the new headquarters of Delhi Police. According to government records, the name of the police officer is Sardar Kartar Singh, who was DSP in Delhi Police. This picture is from the year 1950, when the then Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel honored Kartar Singh for his contribution to the police service. The event was held on 19 March 1950 at the Irwin Stadium, now the Major Dhyanchand Stadium.

Commissioner of Delhi Police Amulya Patnaik has also shared the original photo on his official Twitter account. Earlier, the picture of Mahatma Gandhi was printed on the old Delhi Police headquarters.
