Mumbai, The Maharashtra government on Saturday appointed senior most IPS officer Satish Mathur as the new Director-General of Police.
“Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appointed Satish Mathur (1981 IPS batch) as the next Director General of Police of Maharashtra”, said, K P Bakshi, ACS Home.
He will succeed Praveen Dixit and will take charge later on Saturday. Dixit is retiring after serving in the post since September 2015.
The state government, however, has not yet made any appointment to replace Mathur in the Anti-Corruption Bureau which he headed for three months.
