Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announces Hajj gift for India with 30,000 increase in quota

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia has taken a major step forward to increase the Haj quota for Indians. With this, 200,000 people will now be able to go to The Islamic shrine Mecca every year instead of 1,70,000. The quota has been increased by 30,000. The issue was discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Arabia's Wali Ahd (Crown Prince) Mohammed bin Salman.

Modi, who arrived in Japan to attend the G-20 summit, also had in-depth discussions on trade, investment, energy security and terrorism with his "invaluable strategic partner". Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale told the press that Wali Ahad has promised PM Modi that India's Haj quota will be increased from 1,70,000 to 200,000 every year. He has said, "This is important and it has been done."

Gokhale has said that two lakh Indians will now have the opportunity to go to Haj, which is going to start soon. He said, the two leaders also exchanged discussions on enhancing tourism, air services and agreed to meet again. The Foreign Secretary said that Saudi Wali Ahad invited PM Modi to be one of the chief guests at this year's international conference, which pm Modi has also accepted with gratitude.
