BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has extended Suresh Raina, saying that he has been an important player in India's limited overs cricket. Raina has announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday. As Ganguly said in a statement to the BCCI, "Suresh Raina has been a very good Indian limited-overs player. Going into the lower order, batting in the match required art and talent to play the virtuous innings."

Ganguly further said, "He along with Yuvi and Mahi strengthened India's middle-order in ODIs. I congratulate him and his family." After taking a few minutes of Mahi's retirement, Raina announced to retire from international cricket on Saturday. Raina and Dhoni play for CSK in IPL.

Raina has scored 5615 runs in 226 ODIs and 1,605 runs in 78 T20 matches. He is the first batsman to score a century in T20. He has scored 768 runs in 18 Tests. He has been a member of the Indian cricket team winning the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. He was part of India's first T20 match. He also led the Indian team and under his captaincy, India won 3–2 in the West Indies, 2–0 ODI series in Bangladesh and 2–0 in the T20 series in Zimbabwe. Raina is the only batsman in India to score a century in all three formats of cricket.
