Mumbai: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that the new chairman-elect selection committee will select the team for the home ODI series to be played with South Africa in March. Team India is currently on a tour of New Zealand where they have to play 5 T20, 3 ODIs and 2 matches Test series. After returning from New Zealand, the Indian team will host South Africa at their home.

The 5-member panel of the selection committee includes former players like Laxman Shivramakrishnan, Ajit Agarkar, Rajesh Chauhan and Venkatesh Prasad in the race to replace the current chairman of the outgoing committee, MSK Prasad (South Zone) and Gagan Khoda (Central Zone). Ganguly has said that for the New Zealand tour, the old selection committee has selected the players. The first meeting of the new committee will be preceded by the domestic ODI series against South Africa. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed soon.

Sourav Ganguly has also stated that Madan Lal and Sulakshana Naik are members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), while Gautam Gambhir is being replaced as he cannot hold any position as a Lok Sabha MP. Ganguly said that we have decided on the name of who will replace Gautam and it will be announced soon. Madan Lal and Sulakshana will remain in the committee.
