New Delhi: The Shivling was claimed to have been found during a survey of the disputed Gyanvapi complex in Kashi, the city of Baba Vishwanath. Now a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking Hindus to perform religious rituals here. Shri Krishna Janam Bhoomi Mukti Sthal President Rajesh Mani Tripathi filed the petition saying that since the month of Sawan has begun, Hindus should be allowed to worship.
The petitioner told the court that a survey was conducted under the order of the Varanasi court. During this time, the Shivling has been found in the Gyanvapi temple. Now we want permission from the court to worship there according to our religious practices. The petitioner has said that he and his disciples be allowed to perform religious rituals on the premises of Gyanvapi temple in Varanasi. It also said that though the place has been preserved on the order of the court, the devotees of Lord Shiva have not been allowed to perform puja and rituals at that place.
Let me tell you that, in the Gyanvapi case, district judge AK Vishwesh was heard in the court. During this time, the Hindu side made arguments. Advocate Harishankar Jain, appearing for the Hindu side, told the court that the 1991 Worship Act does not apply in this case in any manner. The land which the Muslim side is claiming belongs to Adi Vishweshwar Mahadev. Prayers are being offered to him forcibly. At the moment, the court has fixed Thursday for the next hearing.
