NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court refused to impose any ban on the project to resettle African cheetahs in India. The Supreme Court said on Monday that it was not against the ambitious project to bring African cheetahs from Namibia to India and settle at the Noordehi Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh. The court said that there is no record of any evidence of a clash between tigers and tigers. A bench of justices S A Bobde and B R Gavai sought their view from the advocate who was helping the court in the case of cattle relocation elsewhere.

On behalf of the National Tiger Conservation Authority, Senior advocate Wasim Qadri, informed the bench that many animals like tigers and leopards live in the sanctuary. The bench said, how will it know how the cheetah will survive in the environment. The Supreme Court agreed with the Initiative of the National Tiger Conservation Authority and said it was not against the policy of using African cheetahs to settle in Madhya Pradesh. The bench also decided to hear the matter after two weeks.

Earlier, as soon as the trial began, Qadri said that the justice friends comment was completely wrong that the place was not the preferred area of cheetahs. The authority said that all the places found to be feasible to resettle the cheetahs will be reassessed and action plan will be prepared for the necessary measures before they are settled. The authority said that the Madhya Pradesh government has written a letter to the Nooradehi Wildlife Sanctuary to restore the leopards. The pyre has completely disappeared from India.
