The next 48 hours are expected to bring thunderstorms, lightning, and very heavy rain to Chennai city and the surrounding locations. The city will be on an orange warning for the following 48 hours. Several suburbs of Chennai such as Iyyappanthangal, Porur and Mangad are inundated with water following the release of water from Chembarambakkam lake.
