New Delhi: Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology (S&T), launched the theme of National Science Day (NSD) 2022, 'Integrated Approach in S&T for Sustainable Future,' on Wednesday, saying that the era of working in silos is over and that everyone should work together on integrated theme-based projects.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the NSD theme was chosen in order to increase public awareness of the scientific issues involved, and that celebrations of important scientific days should not be limited to a single day, but should be continued on a regular basis.

"Science integration is built on four pillars: bringing together all science ministries and departments to work on a theme-based approach to problem-solving, extended science integration aligned with technical, engineering, and medical institutes, extra science integration aligned with Line Ministries/Departments of Central Government, and extended science-driven approach involving industries and start-ups leading to a sustainable future," he said.

The Minister stated that he is arranging a National Science Conclave in the coming days, which will bring together Science Ministries and Departments from the Centre, as well as all States and UTs, to discuss serious issues confronting India and effective solutions.

Every year on February 28, National Science Day commemorates the discovery of the 'Raman Effect.' Many organisations host open houses for their laboratories in order to inform students about the various career prospects available in a certain research laboratory or institution.
