New Delhi: The Supreme Court has given a historic decision on the fundamental right of privacy yesterday. The Supreme Court has said that the Right to Privacy is the fundamental right. After this decision, the government can not disclose your personal information like Aadhar card, PAN card or credit card information. The Supreme Court has given the fundamental right to privacy under Article 21 of the Constitution.
The decision of the Supreme Court:
The Supreme Court has given a historic verdict on whether the citizen of India has a fundamental right or not. Court has considered privacy as a fundamental right. The government can not disclose personal information of your Aadhar card, PAN card or credit card. The Supreme Court had earlier ruled in the case of Right to Privacy in 1954 and 1962 but then the court had said that privacy was not the fundamental right. Today the Supreme Court overturned these two decisions.
Right to Privacy verdict mean:
The decision of the court gives this exemption to every citizen of India that you can refuse if telecom companies, railways or airline companies ask you for your personal information. After the verdict, it is difficult to say whether your refusal will work or not. The dispute is not just about biometric details. Birth date, date of marriage, address proof, bank account details, it can be anything.
