Following their historic night at the Emmys 2022, Squid Game director Hwang Dong Hyuk opened up about his plans of including any Hollywood actors in the upcoming seasons of the hit Netflix show Squid Game. At the congratulatory press conference organised by Netflix, when asked if any famous Hollywood actor will star in the second season of Squid Game: "There will be no known Hollywood actor in Season 2."
Furthermore, he said that "That's not in the plan and if the stage changes, maybe in Season 3 – but for Season 2, it is still set in Korea," via Variety. The Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is well-known for being a huge fan of the cult series, is who he personally wants to see: "Leonardo DiCaprio did say he's a big fan of Squid Game, so maybe if time or chances allow, we can ask him to join the games."
The presence of Leonardo DiCaprio in Squid Game would be amazing.
When he met Emmy winner Lee Jung Jae last year, Leonardo DiCaprio had an interesting fanboy moment because the latter even posted a selfie of the gifted duo on his Instagram page. Leo is a huge fan of Squid Game, as Elle Fanning has stated.
Hwang Dong Hyuk, who was present at the press conference, also said that Squid Game Season 2 will begin filming in 2023 and premiere in 2024, with upgrades to the production budgets and the games that will be featured in the following season.
