Srinagar: Security arrangements are being beefed up across the country for Republic Day. The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has also been tightened. Special security arrangements have been made at the international border of RSPura here. Giving details about the security situation, a security jawan said that we continue to patrol the borders irrespective of the weather conditions. There is an alert at the border on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26.

In fact, terrorists in the Valley are constantly trying to infiltrate the Indian border. As Republic Day and Independence Day draw closer, these efforts increase further, due to which the borders are put on alert. Inspector General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu, DK Bura, on Monday said security forces have been put on "high alert" along the Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the threat of creating problems by anti-national elements on Republic Day.

He said the BSF has already increased vigil at the border for two weeks. He has started anti-tunnelling operations at the International Border in Jammu border. Bura said the BSF is also conducting joint patrolling with the Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the police to foil the nefarious plans of the terrorists.
