Reportedly, the area from which the bag was stolen was covered by the CCTV cameras. Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy Commissioner of Police told HT that they recreated the crime scene and while inspecting it, they noticed that although several cameras were installed, they had different controlling authority.

Detailed investigation revealed that within 15 minutes, the bag, which the professor had forgotten, was picked up by someone and after scanning the footage from 500 different cameras, they zeroed in on four vehicles.
