Amarnath Yatra cancelled due to Corona, security lifted from base camp

Srinagar: After the announcement of the cancellation of this year's Amarnath Yatra on Tuesday to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the security ring is being removed from the base camp. Significantly, due to the security of this trip in Jammu, paramilitary forces including Jammu Police had completed their preparations.

The security enclosure is now being gradually removed from the Shri Amarnath Yatri Niwas, the base camp of the Amarnath Yatra, built in the Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu. This year's Amarnath Yatra was scheduled to begin from June 23 and since then preparations were going on for this journey at the base station in Jammu. Amid the suspicion made on this year's trip, not only sanitization was going on at Amarnath Yatri Niwas, but also with the provision of cleanliness, repair and basic facilities for the passengers were done.

Amarnath Yatri Niwas had been taken by the security wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, BSF and SSB jawans in view of security during this visit. Along with the security of the Yatri Niwas, soldiers were also deployed on the travel route including the stay of the passengers, parking area. But, after the order on Tuesday, the security forces deployed in this Yatri Niwas have started removing their security cordon.
