The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Anurag Thakur, was in Mumbai to inaugurate the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Film Festival. The minister opens about the current trends of Boycotting films. He also talked about the Politician’s criticizing the film.
The union minister says if someone has a problem with a movie, they should approach the censor boards which can take up the issue with producers and directors. He also opens up about the ‘boycott culture’ targetting certain films depraves the atmosphere at a time He said, “It sends a wrong message and corrupts the atmosphere when Indian films are making waves across the globe.”
He said, "In a country like India where we want to increase our soft power and our films are making a name for themselves globally, then such things definitely have an impact. He added, "If anyone has an issue, they should bring it up with the department. But sometimes people make comments without even having the full knowledge and it does have an impact, which should not happen.” Earlier speaking about Indian Cinema. He said, “India is the world’s largest film-making country and over the years we have seen how India as a country has had an impact on the world. Raj Kapoor’s Mera Naam Joker or Mithun Chakraborty’s I Am A Disco Dancer shows a lot about the impact of the Indian cinema industry across the world.”
