MM Keeravani one of the best music composers in Indian Cinema who composed the song Naatu Naatu from Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR has entered the Oscars race in the Best Original Song category. 'Naatu Naatu' song has created history. The film has won some of the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. RRR after winning the best original song award at the Golden globes won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film also won the Best song award for Naatu Naatu.
Veteran Singer A R Rahman in a recent interview recalls the time when Keeravani wanted to quit music and now he will be given the Padma Shri award this year, in the same field. He said, “First of all, Keeravani is a great composer. He was underrated. And, the irony of what life is like… it’s such a great case study. I believe, I don’t know if it’s true, that he wanted to quit music and retire in 2015 and that’s exactly when his career started. We noticed for what he is. So anyone who thinks their life is over, maybe that is a point where you have to start to live your life. This is a great example. I keep telling my children, ‘That gentleman, who’s been working for 35 years, wanted to quit but then his career actually started at that point.”
Speaking of RRR, it is a fictional story set in the 1920s pre-independent era and is based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. While Ram Charan played Ram, NTR was seen as Bheem. The film has grossed over Rs. 1200 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
