AHMEDABAD; On Tuesday evening, a resident of Godrej Garden City and father of a nine-year-old girl lodged a criminal complaint against the person for making physical advances on his daughter, a Class 4 student, in the building lift as the student was returning home from school," Chandkheda Police Inspector V.S. Vanzara said in a statement to the media.

The elderly citizen had engaged in physical contact with the girl against her will, as per CCTV footage from the camera situated in the lift, which was obtained as a result of the police investigation into the complaint, the officer said.

Bhanupratapsinh Rana, a 62-year-old man who lives in the same apartment building, has been named as the accused. The accused is a parent of two sons and a daughter who is retired.

Once his corona report is negative, police will formally detain the accused.

Family accuses in-laws of woman's murder in J&K's Bandipora: In another incident,  family members of a woman on Wednesday accused the in-laws of their daughter's murder in Jammu and Kakshmir's Bandipora district.

A family living in Markundal village of Hajin locality in Bandipora district took to the road and blocked traffic on Hajin-Sumbal road alleging that the in-laws of their daughter, Mehvish living in her husband's home in Panzinara area of Srinagar, had murdered her. Mehvish died in Srinagar's SMHS hospital this morning.

Police said the investigation is going on to ascertain the actual cause of the woman's death.
