Sensex, Nifty falls, Top Stocks to watch today

The Sensex fell 112 points to 60,433 at the close, while the Nifty 50 index fell 25 points to 18,044. Losses in HDFC Bank, HDFC (Housing), Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank, and HCL Technologies dragged the Indian equity benchmarks' two-day winning streak on Tuesday.

Seven of the National Stock Exchange's 15 sector indices finished lower, led by the Nifty Financial Services index, which fell 0.7 percent. The Nifty Bank, FMCG, Metal, and Consumer Durables indices all finished lower. The Nifty Oil & Gas, PSU Bank, Auto, and Healthcare indices, on the other hand, finished higher.

Britannia Industries was the top Nifty loser, falling 2.6 percent to close at Rs. 3,621, after its net profit fell 23 percent to Rs. 384 crore in the September quarter. HDFC Bank, NTPC, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, JSW Steel, Shree Cements, Power Grid, and Hindalco all saw their stock prices fall by 1-1.7 percent. On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra was the top Nifty gainer, rising 5.24 percent to Rs. 904 after its profit more than doubled to Rs. 1,929 crore from Rs. 136 crore a year ago. Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, State Bank of India, ONGC, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Larsen & Toubro, and Divi's Labs all saw their stock prices rise by 0.8 to 1.9 percent.
