Key benchmark indices after hitting fresh high in early session were largely trading in a thin range. On closing, the BSE Sensex was up 0.15 percent or 70 points at 46960, while Nifty gained 0.14 percent or 19 points to settle at 13760. Among sectoral gainers have been Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma. Broader markets underperformed in today's session.

I.T. and Pharma stocks were the outperformers in today's trading session. The I.T. index ended 1.6 percent higher while the Pharma index gained 1.3 percent.

Top gainers on the Nifty include Dr. Reddy's, Bajaj Auto, Infosys and Wipro, while losers namely IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, ONGC, Maruti Suzuki and IOC.

Other sectoral indices recovered from the day's low to end with modest losses. The Nifty Bank to recovered nearly 350 points from the day's low to end 0.4 percent lower.

The PSU Bank index fell 0.7 percent while the Realty index ended with losses of 0.6 percent. Broader markets too were subdued in today's session. The Nifty Midcap index ended 0.2 percent lower as did the Nifty Smallcap index.
