BANGALORE: The Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the teachers' recruitment scam, which allegedly happened during the tenure of the Congress government headed by Siddaramaiah, has intensified investigations, and with the latest arrests, the case could prove to be a setback for the opposition party, said source.

On Monday, the Criminal Investigation Department  (CID) made five significant arrests, and the court granted the CID custody of them until October 1 in order to conduct further investigations.  The accused persons were expected to make key revelations about the scam.

In addition to launching the PayCM poster campaign in the state, Siddaramaiah and other Congress leaders are criticizing the BJP, which is currently in power, by charging a 40% commission. However, this will hit a bottleneck since there will likely be significant arrests in the teacher recruitment scheme, the source said.

Candidates who had not even applied for the positions were selected by the authorities with the support of top officers and politicians. To bypass the first list, the authorities had published their selections in the second list. According to sources, up to 12 of these individuals were chosen in this manner.

Director of the Samagra Shikshan Abhiyan Geetha, Director of the Textbook Division Made Gowda, and retired Joint Directors G.R. Basavaraju, K. Rathnaiah, and D.K. Shivakumara have all been detained by the CID in this matter.

The government-in-power BJP was embarrassed by the Police Sub-Inspector recruitment fraud after the current Additional DGP was taken into custody. Home Minister Araga Jnanendra's resignation was demanded by the Congress. Sources now claim that the senior bureaucrats and netas supported by Congress would be arrested as a result of the teacher recruitment fraud.

19 people have been detained by the CID detectives thus far as a result of two different complaints. The hirings took place in 2014–15.
