ISLAMABAD: A horrific mine disaster in the Omani city of Ibri claimed the lives of at least seven Pakistani miners, four other workers have gone missing, as per reports.
According to reports, the catastrophe occurred after a rockslide struck the marble quarry, crushing seven miners and perhaps burying the others. Another Pakistani was hurt in the incident and is being treated right now.
The Pakistani Embassy in Muscat said the search and rescue mission for the missing miners was being coordinated closely with Omani officials. For the search and rescue operation, authorities used heavy machinery, sophisticated cameras, and sniffer dogs.
Two embassy officers paid a visit to Ibri and met with the impacted families and workers. The embassy extended full support and promised that the bodies will be returned to Pakistan as soon as possible after the necessary formalities were completed.
