Bangkok: Officials in northern Thailand said Tuesday that a metal roof on a school's activity centre collapsed on Monday, killing seven people, four of whom were children.

According to the public relations office in Phichit province, 300 kilometres (185 miles) north of Bangkok, the most recent victim was a 6-year-old boy who passed away late Monday night in a hospital following the collapse at the Wat Nern Por primary school.

According to a Facebook post from the school's official disaster prevention department, several students had entered the activity centre to seek shelter from the rain when the roof collapsed, leaving 18 people hospitalised.

Four boys, two parents, and one member of the school's cleaning staff perished, according to Patcharin Siri, a member of the provincial Public Relations Department staff.
This week, there will be a lot of rain in northern Thailand, according to the meteorological department's warning. Additionally, the rainy season got underway on Monday.
