Srinagar: Voting continues for the seventh phase of the ongoing district council elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. In Doda district, the seventh phase of voting has started in the District Development Council elections and people are seen voting. Voting for the seventh phase of the District Development Council election is going on in RS Pura of Jammu district.
Along with this, a long queue of voters has been seen outside a polling station at Airvan in Nagri block of Kathua during the seventh phase of the DDC election. Today simultaneous voting is held for 438 Panch and 69 Sarpanch seats. People will vote from 7 am to 1 pm. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, State Election Commissioner KK Sharma said that a total of 31 seats will be voted in DDC constituency, including 13 in Kashmir division and 18 in Jammu division.
He said that there are 148 candidates, including 34 women candidates, in the 13 DDC constituencies of Kashmir division which will go to polls on Wednesday. In Jammu division, 150 candidates are in the fray for 18 DDC constituencies in this phase, out of which 38 are women. He said that 6,87,115 voters where 3,59,187 male and 3,27,928 female voters are going to elect their representatives in all 31 DDC constituencies.
